Your device comes preloaded with a worldwide basemap when you install the app. However, this map's quality isn't sufficient for navigation.
To access detailed charts, you'll need to manually download them using the dedicated button, located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Charts download
Here's how to download charts:
Tap the button or zoom in until you need detailed charts, which will overlay a special layer on the map to manage the charts repository.
To download an area, tap on the corresponding tile (which turns blue) and press Start. Once downloaded, the selected tiles turn green, and they have different colors/images to indicate their status.
- Tap again a tile to delete it (a red cross will be displayed inside the tile)
- Tiles with a lock inside are not included in your purchase
- Gray tiles can not be downloaded
- Green tiles are already downloaded and stored in your device
- You will display a message "To update" inside the tile when a new update is available
Once you have downloaded the detailed charts, they will be stored on your device for offline use. You can zoom in to access the best available details.
If any of your downloaded tiles require an update, a red dot with a number will appear on the Manage Charts button, indicating tiles labeled "To Update" in red.
If you see a blue dot it means the app automatically updated that number of tiles (see Automatic download page for more info).
On iOS, the downloaded tiles are stored by default in a protected area of the device, ensuring they won't be deleted even if space is low. If you prefer, you can change this default behavior in the Settings page.
