The Waterway Guide Team has accumulated extensive boating expertise over the years, helping us to assist you in plotting a course, selecting the finest marinas and anchorages en route, and identifying optimal fuel stops (complete with up-to-date fuel prices). We provide information on bridges, locks, and navigation alerts, empowering you to make informed decisions about your route.
Settings page
From the main Settings page, you can access the Waterway Guide Settings page.
- Data download: to enable Waterway Guide functionality and download data for offline use.
Note: the first time you download the data, it may take several minutes, but you can continue using the app in the meantime. - Update now: to immediately download the latest available database.
- Automatic update: you can choose the automatic update logic. "Never" will never update the database automatically; you need to manually press the "Update now" button. "WiFi" will automatically update daily whenever the app is active and connected to a WiFi network. "Always" will update the database daily using any type of data connection, including cellular, but note that this may incur extra costs depending on your mobile contract.
- Show on map: to enable the display of Waterway Guide objects on the map. You can also fine-tune which objects are shown on the map using the 6 object icons: marina, hazard, anchorage, bridge, free dock, and gate. Tapping on a specific icon will enable or disable the display of the corresponding set of objects. Note: these settings will also affect the Route Explorer search engine. Objects that are not displayed will not be found by the Route Explorer engine.
- Icon size on Map: to select the preferred size of Waterway Guide icons on the map.
- Show names on map: to enable the display of object names on the map, just below the corresponding icon. Note: when enabled, names will only be displayed at detailed scales.
Object info page
To get all the details of an object, tap on the corresponding icon on the map and select the and you will open the relative info page.
You'll find six types of information (each with a corresponding tab on the bottom menu): General, Navigation, Dockage, Fuel, Service, and Reviews. The red circle on the Reviews tab indicates how many reviews are available for that object.
To enter a review, press the icon on the right of the top bar. This will bring you to the Waterway Guide site.
