On this page, you can choose how (and if) your downloaded maps and data will be automatically updated by the app. The settings for the USCG Data, ActiveCaptain, and Waterway Guide are also available on their dedicated pages. For each type of data, the possible options are:
- Never: the data is not updated automatically.
- WiFi: the update is only performed when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Always: the update is performed with any type of data connection (including cellular connection). Please note: with these options, you may incur additional costs depending on your mobile contract.
The update of the Map data occurs even if the app is not in the foreground, whereas other data is updated only when the app is active.
Please note: there is a difference in behavior between iOS and Android. With iOS, it is necessary for the app to be in the background for updates to occur, whereas this is not necessary on Android. This means that on iOS devices, if you turn off (and then on) the device, the updates will not occur as apps are not automatically relaunched by iOS. Under these conditions, you need to manually launch the app and then close it to ensure it is in the background.
